History

Revamp in progress

The history section is currently being reworked! I haven't worked on this area extensively since 2021 due to the lack of motivation and time but I'm back to work on this part of my page! For the time being, this section is closed while I work on it; I don't know when I'll be finished with it but in the meantime, check out the other sections!

Throughout the sections, there will be icons in front of some images. Here's what each of them mean:
📁= Brings you to a Twitter Moment
🎨 = Brings you to the original Twitter tweet

This page is currently in the process of a major revamp!

Early life

-2012-2016

What a time it was to be using electronics before social media tackled onto my life; being introduced to all my favorite things, and getting the hang of life in general.A lot of my history goes back before the internet became mainstream and stuff, let's say sometime starting in 2008 or 2009; where my brain started to heavily appreciate the things I used.
I was first introduced to the wonderful world of video games with Microsoft Windows, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance; my first games being Tetris, Bejeweled 2 and Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. Though I enjoyed playing them, I became a freak over them with the GameCube, Wii and Nintendo DS. And soon I became an even bigger freak with my iPod Touch!
This is the time period as well where I was exposed to the essential media series and franchises of my life: Bejeweled, Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Club Penguin, Super Smash Bros., Pokemon, Angry Birds, Minecraft, SpongeBob, Gumball and more.
Around 2011-2012, I began developing a huge interest for art, helped especially over me now becoming an insane Kirby fan. Being touched over me being the most artistic of my class, I couldn't help but begin scribbling all over my school journals.

The first favorite video game series I've ever got into was Bejeweled, I love that match 3 series to death, even in present times (I go back to it a lot for nostalgia and to burn off time).
I've gotten into a lot of things during that time, including Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Club Penguin, Super Smash Bros. (I was very bad at it since I was young and never knew what I was doing, my first Smash was Melee), and more stuff.
I really liked visiting arcades, an arcade machine I encountered very often was the Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga Arcade Cabinet (which exposed me to everything Namco).
During 2010, my cousin shared her interests to me, one of them which was Kirby: Squeak Squad, a DS game starring that you-know-who pink puffball. Little did I know that after playing it, it would become one of my favorite video game franchises of all time.My first smart device was an iPod Touch 3rd Generation, sometime around 2010-ish of such things.
During the early 2010s, that was my exposure that was the legendary days of the App Store, back when games were full quality, original, when they didn't have ads and were all classics (I miss those days). Angry Birds, Tiny Tower, Pocket Frogs, Pocket Hotel, Fruit Ninja, Minecraft: Pocket Edition, and lots more.
Now here's where the artist stuff kicks in:Around 2011-2012, I began developing an interest for art, mainly after drawing Kirby (who was the easiest character for me to draw and essentially is the reason I'm doing art). I drew on your old well-kown paper and pencil, but I also did my drawings through Microsoft Paint as well.Around mid 2012, I touched paint.net for the first time, and it was a lot more advanced compared to other programs.

Early Social Media Years

2017

In 2013, I began a series of comics known as Kirby Comix as my love for Kirby began to grow.
They were littered all over my school textbooks and my friends praised my talents, which is what inspired to continue forward.
I made about 19 issues of these Kirby comics and they were at least 2 pages long each issue, in some issues they're 4-6 pages long. Many of these comics would either be based on plain old comic adaptions of Kirby games, or some would be original stories created by me (Kirby going to a store to eat every tomato alive, Kirby moving to a hotel until it suddenly explodes, Kirby visiting Nintendo World (aka Nintendo NY) and some would be even more bizarre, as Kirby going to earth, putting Kirby in goddamn Titanic and more.
I made the original Kirby Comix series from February 15, 2013 until June 10, 2013. I made a short lived sequel series, titled: "Kirby Comix 2: Summer Fun" (sounds like a stupid-ass title, doesn't it? I mean 9 year old me would be offended anyways if I told him that), that I made in 2014, when I moved to Paraguay afterwards, though I've seemed to have misplaced or thrown away the journal that I made the comics in.
I made one digital comic of the series (which is currently lost in time, I can't find the file on my old Windows Vista).
Dealing with stuff like school, surviving Hurricane Sandy and enjoying video games, I moved out from my comfort home at New York, USA to the zones of South America, to the zones of Asuncion, Paraguay in South America in August 2013.Now here's something that's a bit depressing:
I was highly against this initially for a few years, mainly since it felt like starting life all over again. Feeling forced to learn Spanish, seeing everyone have completely different interests and stuff (which made it incredibly hard to make friends since no one knew what I was talking about), I felt really homesick and was always sad that I had to move to this country and thought it was the worst thing to happen to me. In school, I was always alone, having no one to talk with since most people were interested in PlayStation games, sports and soccer stuff (I didn't have any interest in PlayStation at that time, and I absolutely despised soccer).
It was until 2014 I introduced someone to Nintendo and eventually became my first best friend there. However, aside from that, my life kinda stayed the same for the next 3 years. In 2014, I bought a Nintendo 2DS, which would be the first time I got a Nintendo product since 2012, the first game I got for the system was Smash 4 (Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS). I really never got a lot of games for the system due to the limited availability of Nintendo products in Paraguay (and my parents not wanting me to buy a lot of games either). I was heavily into mobile games, Minecraft, Xbox stuff and watched a lot of SpongeBob in the meantime.
However on a more positive thing, also in August 2013, I joined the social media foray for the first time with Instagram, going under the alias dailynickposts123. What I did on this account specifically was, well, it's a lot of nonsensical posting:- I would post a lot of interesting images I found on the internet, from official renders, to stock images, to game sprites, and more
- I loved Minecraft so much during the Instagram era I would always act as an update reporter, essentially reporting all kinds of Minecraft news, even though everyone following me never cared.
- Occasionally I posted not-so-original things (mostly photo collages, but sometimes paint.NET art as well)
I would rebrand two times: in early 2014 I would go under nickpostswhat (I regret this alias with all my brain) and in 2015, nickisonline (sounds familiar, doesn't it?).
In 2015, I would reach 100 followers, which was pretty much one of my biggest achievements in my life (for an account that reposted a lot of stuff, it definitely was an achievement)
In August 2016, I lost access to my original account, and had no way to recover it, which led me to my first big depression. I was essentially there with no social media until September 2016, where I started fresh with the alias nickcaballerousa, continuing the same habits. Then the following month, October, I've made the biggest move in my life:Joining Twitter.

2017

Jump to the wide public on Twitter

October 1, 2016, I signed up and joined Twitter, going under the alias nickcaballerousa, as I wanted to test things out and see if Twitter was a good website or not.I initially never really saw the appeal to Twitter at first, so I stayed on Instagram for a few months. However, overtime I found myself using Twitter a lot more than usual, and eventually I loved Twitter a lot.
Beginning in 2017, I eventually made Twitter my primary social media site. I initially continued to do what I did on Instagram, however, I was introduced to the place where content creators reside, and saw tons of art, and learned a lot from Twitter.
I became inspired by shitposters (the funny makers) and artists, I eventually began my art career and decided to pursue one of my dreams: becoming a professional artist. Beginning around August 2017, I started doing pixel art coloring, based on existing sprites from games. By September, I amassed 100 followers, less than a year after creating the account. I eventually found Twitter to essentially be my "home" or something like that. I eventually began to phase out of Instagram after that. In October, I started doing digital art from scratch, using paint.net and traditional drawing.Aside from that stuff, this was also the time where the Nintendo Switch craze was beginning. Boy do I miss these days. Nintendo Switch fully revived my interest in Nintendo, Kirby, and got me into Mario and Sonic for real. The hype train for Sonic Mania, Super Mario Odyssey, and more. I really wanna go back to those days if I could.

2018

The true birth of an artist

Around the end of 2017, I did a couple of picture effect requests around my account, with 3 "retweet this tweet and I'll do this" events (It sounds painful but I had a fun time doing those), which were putting VHS filters on Profile Pictures, recreating them poorly on iOS notes and putting them on a Game Boy Filter.Eventually, looking back at the Poorly drawn versions of the profile pictures, I eventually became inspired to start doing my own art, as well.Around February 2018, I made a shitpost with a glitch in Super Mario Odyssey that became my first post ever to surpass 1000 likes, even getting a follow from one of my favorite content creators of all time. This inspired me to start doing shitposting on my account, in which I really enjoyed doing during that time. When I started school in 2018, I saw one of my classmates bring one of their sketchbooks to school. Inspired by this, I eventually decided to bring my own sketchbook to school starting in late March 2018, but I also haven't realized this was the biggest move of my life.
On April 2018, I began work on a project featuring original characters of mine that I'm currently working on (I haven't talked much of it as of now since it still needs a lot of work but will get to it in the future). The project I had in mind dates back to something that I've been thinking about since elementary school days.
I've also amassed about 300 followers during that time, and met most of my Twitter mutuals during that period (however I wasn't really talkative during that time).
With the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate hype coming in all around, it was a pretty exciting year, with all the things coming together, and me getting introduced to several new games/series/franchises all around.Alongside that, I began to notice my art skills were improving over time. Stuff that I noticeably improved over time was the eye styles, line art and colors. Beginning September 2018, I started using Sketchbook (originally Autodesk Sketchbook) to make art. This essentially sped up my art production drastically, compared to the way.

2019

Slow year

2019, well that's surely a year. Things in 2019 went pretty swell at first actually. I maintained my cool from 2018 and continued to get back to what I do best. Around this time, it was pretty notable that the way I drew hair became incredibly huge. This is what I personally refer to as "the afro era". One of my mutuals took notice of it, so I went ahead and made that a priority to reduce the sizes of the hair I drew, which helped a lot.
